BW: Baba, pwease. Cawos, I wanted to chat today about a vewy distuhbing twend in the automotive field — the augmentation of engine sounds by wouting wecowhded soundtwacks thwough the wadio system. What is the dwiving fouhce behind that?
CG: Well, Barbara, as you know, engines these days get smaller due to CAFE requirements, turbocharging, and other technological advancements we didn't have even five years ago. While these advancements result in improved performance and fuel economy, these newer engines can sometimes be missing something intangible as you're driving down the road.
BW: Aah, those stwict wepwessive wegulations from the guhvunment stwike again!
CG: Among other things. What we're saying is, "Hey, we know there's no replacement for the beautiful noise of an old Rocket 455. Let's have a little fun, just the two of us, on the inside."
BW: I've wead that this "feachuh" is optional on youwh woh-pwice Wehnouh Cwio, but I heauh youwuh stahting to thwust this down the thwoats of some othuh models, such as the fwagship Zee thwee fifty (awlthough that VQ thing is weally waucous).
CG: One thing I want to make clear, Barbara, is that this feature can be turned off at will. If the driver just wants to hear the raw engine noise, he or she can just press a button on the screen. If the driver wants to add a little spice, he or she can choose a classic Clio or Renaut 8.
BW: I've also wead that this "feachuh" is being impwemented on othuh bwands, such as Fowud and BMW. Do you think this twend will accewerate? Could we see a Fewawwi impwementing this soon?
CG: I'm not sure, Barbara — the sound of flames is hard to vary with RPM.

Just commenting to say that Gilda Radner was amazing and I read that entire thing very clearly hearing her Barbara Walters voice in my head. Even Carlos' part :)
